So in this case I'd probably head down the "I'll download it and try it...if it is as good as the hype I'll buy it" path.

Modding your 360 and to buy dual layer discs, well theres hundreds of online retailers who sell them.
Oh and by the way so y'all know, Im not saying Piracy is good at all.

PC is alot easier to pirate than the 360. With pc you download an iso fil and then mount it using software, the game rips supply all the s**t to make it work. But the 360 pirating may not be cheaper either, For exmaple Dual layer dvds are still quite expensive
Either way this is wrong. I think it is about time that devs event something by now to tackle this problem. If pirates can find a way then im sure hired programmers can.

And no, pirating on the PC isn't a lot easier, just visit a torrent site and read all the whining comments about how to make the game work, it's pretty amusing. :)

You dont need DL dvds, a basic external hdd (for mobile access), iso image on your pc (continous use), or even shirnk the files to a normal size dvd. You can use Dl, but i have never had to use them to back up my windows or my own games. If i wanted to, i can give my neighbour 20 top games and have they all working within 2 hours max.
As for torrent users, most of them dont have there rig setup to handle such installs and files etc. Me i honestly never had a prbolem running my backup games or files. Il swear to that aswell :)
But its not clever doing piracy. People think yes i saved 60 quid on games, when you actually have cost a company thousands and probably a sequel to that top end game you like so much. I mean yea it was kool at first but now its getting serious and from my own experience i plead to anyone who does DL games to think twice about the effects to the industry.
Woolworths, ASDA, Morrisons, Tesco, and even WHSmith have stopped selling PC games int he actual shops now. I had to drive 14 miles to the nearest GAME shop. Its damaging the gaming scene far to quickly.
