Call to Konami UK office reveals online problems across all versions.
Konami is suffering criticism from gamers who say the PS3 version of the game suffers from frame rate issues and slowdown. You can see why we gave the game seven out of 10 in our review here. You can also see our exclusive gameplay footage here.
Earlier today Konami apologised for the quality of online play with an online notification displayed when gamers enter the PES 2008 lobby. It revealed that the publisher has uncovered "issues which can affect the online gameplay quality of PES 2008" and is working "full strength to find a solution as quickly as possible".
We gave Konami's UK office a call posing as a customer to ask what the publisher would be doing to combat the problems. We were told that a patch was being worked on that would not only attempt to improve offline play but also online play. However, Konami does not have a timeframe on when that patch will be released.
It remains unclear how PES fans who are not connected to the Internet will be able to improve the quality of their game experience, however.
Rest assured we'll keep you updated as this story develops.

Then Pro-g reviewed the ps3 version and called it out on the frame rate problems, awarding it a 7. So I got worried again...
Having spent all day taking england through the world cup I have to say the pro-g review is spot on, at first i didnt notice the slow down as i was just so happy to be playing pes with a dual shock again! The 360 pad just cannot compare for use with pes but slowly it dawned on my that there were considerable problems especially around the goal mouths. Until pro-g review the 360 version i guess we are still left wondering if there is little to choose between them but i doubt it.
So there i was pondering how ign had managed to score the game so highly when at full time in my first match below the score (5-1 to me if you care) was a huge advert for....IGN! I dont want to draw the obvious conclusions but surely it cannot be good for web-sites that review games to be advertising within said games? What is the point of in-game advertising? To get your brand seen, surely therefore reviewing a game low reduces the amount of potential people who will see the ad!?!
All very dissappointing in my opinion and I am not some massive fanboy or forum flamer but i do play alot of games and this trend worries me.
So off i go to trade pes ps3 for pes 360 but not every pes fan is lucky/sad as i am and owns both systems.
Fingers crossed for next year and props to Pro-g for integrity.

he probably played it in HD like me - and has no problems bar the replays and random points - like what he states in the review if you read it

also, i know someone working on haze at the moment who is trying to find an old number he ahs for konami
Mail i sent:
I am writing to you with concerns over the current state of your latest pro evo offering. Now myself currently has the game running on an HD TV, so for me it's not as bad as some. But i am disgraced on what i am seeing on my friends copy as he is running in standard def.
I am seeing very large amount of lag / framerate drop not only in replays but also during certain points in the gameplay. For example if a player goes off injured and it displays down the bottom corner as he is fit and coming back on. The framerate is nearly halfed at that point to what it normally is.
I don't know how right i am. But the crowd seems to have quite a bit to do with it, at least on my friends copy. If he turns off stadium effects you see a big improvement - but let me make it clear its nowhere near satisfactory still.
This message is simple, because all i want to know is if we should return our copys now due to their terrible gameplay through the ps3, or if we should wait. We both spent near £450 in total (PS3 + the game + controllers etc) to play this, and we're left outraged at how bad the performance is.
We know about the patch that is coming to hopefully fix this issue but you have given no idea as to a release date for it. I don't want to sit around for 30days and then find out that the patch didn't fix these problems and that i can no longer refund my copy of the game.
Also, is this why you didn't release the demo for the PS3? It was nice to know that the xbox 360 and the PC had demos, and have fine copies then once the PS3 hit the shelves there were instant problems. I'm not really buying the fact that you didn't have an idea about this. Was this just shpped over fomr the 360 and hoped it would work on the PS3? Because it feels like that at the moment.
I'm sorry if i'm ranting but i'm so gutted that i wait a year for the next-gen pro evo and its hit with problems like this.
A reply would be nice.

who bets i dont get a reply?

Hdtv has better results then sdtv, (not much better though)
turning stadium features off helps (though not much)
turning commentry on or off didn't really work or do anything..
but heres the real puzzler, we tried all the season settings, time, balls etc, the play becomes classic brilliant pes play when you switch to winter. no need to switch anything else off, works perfect on sdtv as well. even full on rain makes no differance. Summer causes all the problems. we don't know why but the above works and as I'm writing this we've gone and had full 10 minute matches in 6 stadiums so far.
still can't play master league, cup, or the other modes cause half the games on summer setting so according to our theory its effed up, so fifty fifty your gonna get bad framerates.
can anybody else test this on their ps3 cause we fiddled with our ps3 settings before hand so we are't totally sure if its only on our ps3.
*by the way games still a effing ripoff, patch better fix a few things or they'll lose a big chunk of their fanchise. and by big I mean by word of mouth. Everyone I know is talking about pes next gen and that it sucks big time.
(15 stadiums on a bluray disc, jeez)
