Nintendo: Why would a Wii gamer want PS Move?
Consumers love the Wii, so why spend $400 on a PS3 with PS Move says Fils-Aime.
Speaking to IndustryGamers at GDC last week, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has responded to Sony's claims that Wii gamers will want to make the move to the PS3 and the upcoming PS Move controller by asking; he can't see why that would be the case.
"And why would they say that? That's the piece that to me is very interesting," said Fils-Aime when asked what he thought of Sony's comments during their GDC unveiling on PlayStation Move.
"So I'm a consumer and I'm having a great experience with my Wii. And we know that's the case - we look at the software that's being purchased. Consumers love the Wii. What's going to motivate them to spend minimally $300 for a new [PS3] system, plus minimally $100 for the Move motion bundle? So [as a consumer] now I'm into this for $400 and I still have to spend money on software. What's going to motivate me to do that?"
That's a question, which thus far, Sony hasn't answered.

A year ago all you 'Hardcore' gamers where laughing at the wii for it's motion based casual games - now you're arguing over who's going to have the best motion based casual games - which just goes to prove that most of you will find anything to argue over!

If they wanted that genre of gaming they'd of bought a console with those qualities from the start. Most won't move as the experience of the games they like playing will be too similar on both consoles. The PS3 is already getting Wii Ports.

Other people think differant things, casuals prefer the Wii and wont mind putting, in total, the same amount into a wii as a PS3. Whether this is because they feel the value when you initially buy it, it may come across cheap and they dont realise how much it is costing you in the longrun.
As for you saying the Wii is coming to the end of its life, i think that is a completely stupid statement to make with the likes of:
Mario Galaxy 2
RedSteel 2
Metroid
Monster Hunter
No More Heroes 2
to just name a few.
Also interestingly the amount of Wii selling is increasing here

well thats a bit stupid because people are already selling their wiis and getting a 360 or ps3.
the wii has come to the end of its life, they put out everything they had in the first couple of years and then since their hardware was outdated, they depended on attachments like the wii balance board and motion plus.
in the UK, if you buy all these attachments your almost looking at the same price of a ps3......which does way more for the same price.

PS3 move controller will probably be bought by hardcores, but won't be a contender for the casual market. I probably will buy a PS3 now and move controller but will still play on the wii than the PS move games, and use my PS£ for stuff like uncharted 2 etc

The question in this article is kind of silly. Asking a Wii owner why he would want to purchase a PS3 with motion control is asking a PS2 gamer why he would want to buy a PS3. The PS3 has
-better graphics
-will have more 3rd party developers
-a bluray (3D capable) player
-wifi
-internet browser
-Playstation Home
-better exclusives
-the option to play with both motion control AND dual shock with sixaxis
-Free online play
-PSN store
-More accurate motion control
Lastly, Wii owners don't have to spend $400 on the PS3. Nintendo Wii's are selling on eBay pretty well. Pending on what kind of games and accessories one has for their Wii they can conceivably get the PS3 and some games without any out of pocket expense. This is especially the case around Christmas time. I sold my PS2 and games when the PS3 came out and got my PS3 without having to spend any money.

Thats the problem with catch all arguements - they get blown out of the water when someone gives a cogent example!
When it is used with a bit of thought it can be great but in general its not fun.

Do you guys understand that you're arguing over which waggle games are better? No one is going to want the PS Move since it's going to suck, if you believe it's going to be good then play a Wii game. Is it fun? No, and the PS Move is going to be exactly the same.
