Nintendo to begin trialling WiiWare demos

Hopes demos will encourage more Wii users to use the Wii Shopping Channel.

IGN reports that Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, speaking during the recent earnings briefing Q&A, revealed that the platform holder is to begin a test program for WiiWare demos later this month.

The test will feature only a few titles and hopes to encourage more Wii owners to make use of the Wii Shopping Channel. Iwata admitted that the audience for WiiWare and DSiWare is currently small.

However, Iwata also added that he doesn't believe the introduction of demos is necessarily the solution, but then that's why it's only being tested.

It's not currently clear if the WiiWare demo test will operate internationally or only in Japan.
