UK boss highlights Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.
Nintendo has moved to reassure its traditional hardcore fans with the rallying call: "You're still very important to us".
Speaking at a press conference in London this morning, David Yarnton, general manager of Nintendo UK, said: "It's important to know that we're not ignoring the hardcore gamer. They're still very important to us."
Some hardcore Nintendo fans who have grown up playing the Legend of Zelda series and other classic first-party Nintendo titles have expressed their concern at Nintendo's Touch! Generation series, including Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? on the DS and upcoming Wii title Wii Fit.
However, Yarnton pointed towards a number of games on both consoles that he said were evidence that Nintendo hasn't forgotten its roots.
He said: "And Christmas alone we have already catered on the Wii with Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy, and on DS with the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass."
