Nintendo has admitted that Wii U stock will be "tight" on launch day, but has pledged to provide retailers with "regular stock deliveries" of the console in the run-up to Christmas.

"Wii U stock levels will be tight on day one," Nintendo told MCV. "However, we will be providing retailers with regular stock deliveries in the run-up to Christmas in order to meet demand as quickly as possible."

According to MCV's report, independent retailers are allegedly even being advised "to shop at Tesco or GAME" to secure stock of the console, given the expected shortages.

Nintendo's previous home console, Wii, launched across Europe in November 2006, and became the fastest selling console across the continent.

Despite shipping 4 million units by the end of the year, the console was a global sell-out.

The Premium Wii U SKU already appears to have sold out across numerous online retailers, including Amazon and Play.com. GAME.co.uk, meanwhile, appears to have stopped taking pre-orders for the Basic SKU.

Wii U launches across the UK on November 30. Have you pre-ordered one?
