One Multiplayer ID per system.

nintendo 3ds -

Nintendo marketing director Laurent Fischer has revealed that the clumsy friend codes system utilised on the Nintendo DS and Wii has been updated for use on 3DS.

Rather than requiring a unique friend code for each game, the 3DS will use just one Multiplayer ID which is attached to the handheld. You simply need to add someone's ID to add them to your friends list.

The news of a more user-friendly system for multi-player gaming on 3DS is sure to be met with great enthusiasm by gamers fed up with having to cope with multiple friend codes.

I agree either dudester. It's just awkward to remember. I only know my home number and half my mobile number, it's taken me years for those to get lodged in my head, yet a simple system that asks your name and date of birth (for example) making a unique name for you out of that would be easily remembered and also avoiding the "xXxIPwnDaNoobzxXx" problem.

Yeah, because the whole world hates phone numbers. Get over it, there has to be some kind of identifier. Why not numbers? At least this way we won't ever see stuff like xXxSkIlLeDsNiPaHxXx all over the place.
