"Wii and Nintendo DS already represent great value for money."

Speaking to Industry trade magazine MCV, Nintendo's UK general manager David Yarnton has revealed the platform holder has no plans to reduce the price of its Wii or Nintendo DS products for Christmas.
"In terms of Nintendo's business, we feel that Wii and Nintendo DS already represent great value for money," said Yarnton. "This combined with out focus on market expansion and bringing people of all ages to our products through making them smile and helping to enrich their lives means that we currently see no need to drop the price on either of our formats this year."
While Nintendo won't be slashing the price of its hardware, Yarnton does believe there will be some enticing retailer promotions.
"As retailers continue to try and maintain footfall and secure share in the current difficult economic climate, this Christmas should see some interesting and very competitive retailer-led promotions," noted Yarnton.
Earlier today Nintendo confirmed that the new Nintendo DSi will not be released in Europe this year, with a spring 2009 release date currently being targeted.
