All the attention might be on Sony's new PS Vita, but that hasn't stopped the platform holder from revealing a new model PSP that will retail for 99 euros. The handheld is clearly targeting a budget gaming market and as such won't offer any wi-fi functionality.

No further details were given during Sony's gamescom 2011 press conference, but expect a string of budget software to be available for the newly redesigned handheld.

Ah, bugger. Would love to cease 10 free games. Yes, Golden Abyss would be for Vita, seeing as it's built around the two analogue sticks. I think I, must of jumped over heels. :D

The 10 free games is for the PSP Go.

Would you not need a Vita to play Golden Abyss?

Yeah, I just read about Media Go. Need to read up on that, because if this £99 will be able to play Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Well, I will instantly buy one at that price!

Oh I see! I do like the look of this now. By the use of a USB cable and downloading the Media Go Software. Accessing the Playstation Network Store on the PC, is somewhat genius.

What about the free 10 games or was that just a promotion for the PSP Go?

You don't need WiFi to access the PSN Store, Media Go is all you need.

Wifi would certainly give this more oomph for 99 euros. I wonder if ethernet connection will be the source for accessing the PSN Store? If so, then sadly I wouldn't purchase it, though I do have interests in the Vita.

New games always used to come with firmware updates on the UMD. And you can download firmware updates using Media Go... I'm presumming it does come with a USB connection.

I'm wondering if it'll have an ethernet connection on the back for firmware updates.

I'm so in, been meaning to pick up an old PSP3000 for £130ish for a while now as there's such a HUGE back catalogue of great games, all I need to know is when will it be available? It's nicely Christmas stocking sized too...

Saves me getting a Vita too, I'm sure Vita has great visuals and two analogue sticks, but at x2.5 times the price I can live without it if I have a PSP.
