Konami has announced the autumn release of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 for Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PC, PSP and DS.
The multi-million selling franchise is to make its debut on the PlayStation 3 this year, along with new versions for other home consoles and handheld platforms.
New in PES 2008 is a proprietary adaptive AI system entitled Teamvision that will learn and adapt according to the individual's style of play. This means the game will learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements, ensuring games are more in line with the real thing.
Close control has also been enhanced, giving players better control when dribbling the ball, plus a number of new subtle moves have been added to aid in bypassing defenders.
Set pieces will also benefit from enhancements, with full control now given to the player in regard to the number of players and position of the defensive wall. A wider range of set piece options are also available, which talented players within the team can fully utilise.
Although PES 6 was released on Xbox 360, the game was criticised for its uninspiring next-gen visuals. Konami is looking to put this right with PES 2008, promising true next-gen versions on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Player detail has been increased and now offers full facial animation and high-definition detail.
Something else lacking in PES 6 on Xbox 360 was a full edit mode, which thankfully will be present in next-gen versions this time around.
PES 2008 will be released in the autumn for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, PC and Nintendo DS.
