However, remains committed to the MMO and promises further investment.

NCsoft has informed VideoGamer.com that it remains behind its recently launched MMO, Tabula Rasa, but does admit the game's uptake has been disappointing.

However, this setback won't prevent the publisher from sticking with its new MMO, something early fans of the game will be pleased to hear.

"Yes the game hasn't done the numbers we hoped for initially, but we are investing a huge amount into the game, and we are launching it in Japan later this year," said an NCsoft spokesperson. "There's definitely lots to come. Tabula Rasa is not dead."

According to The Korea Time's Cho Jin-seo, Tabula Rasa is reported to have cost more than 100 billion won and has only generated revenues of five billion in its first year. This year the game is expected to generate 15 billion won.

Cho Jin-seo also notes that the poor performance of the game has resulted in a restructuring of NCsoft's Austin studio, with staff cutbacks expected. However, comments made to VideoGamer.com should calm initial concern by fans over the future of the MMO.

NCsoft has also moved to further rubbish the Korea Times report, issuing a statement indicating that the information in the article should not be trusted.

"Please take any Korea Times articles about NCsoft with a grain of salt," read the statement. "Unfortunately, their writer has been responsible for several inflammatory articles containing sloppy reporting and erroneous content in the past year. They are by no means an "official" source of information."

Despite a disappointing start at retail we think Tabula Rasa is certainly worth a look, especially for those put off by a less than spectacular beta period.
