Could retail for as low as £30.

natal -

MCV reports that publishing sources have confirmed Microsoft's Project Natal will be released in November 2010 and could retail for as little as £30.

These details are a result of a behind-closed-doors Microsoft tour of UK publishers and studios, during which the platform holder has been demoing the tech and detailing its launch plans in order to gain development support.

Anonymous publishing sources have indicated to MCV that Microsoft is planning to manufacture five million units for launch, to be made available bundled with an Xbox 360 console or solus.

Sources also believe the motion tracking device will retail at under £50, one source telling MCV that Microsoft is "trying to get as close as possible to 'impulse buy'", while another suggested a retail price of just £30.

As for games made to utilise the device, MCV states that 14 titles are being readied for launch, many of which are expected to come from first-party studios including Rare.

Is £30 for Natal much cheaper than you had expected? Is November 2010 too long to wait? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Sorry PB your right. I was actually cringing as I wrote this
thinking it may get taken like that. What I meant is to get some of the functionality of Natal you'd need to spend that much on wii accessories. That would have justified the £100 price tag in my eyes.

£50 is an amazing price.

@ Karlius - Most Wii games still only use the Nunchuk, Wii Remote and Wii Plus (all included with the Wii) so it's free for a single player game.

An extra Wii Remote and Nunchuk will set you back about £40 though and should you want Wii Plus it'll be another £15 on top, so say £55 for 2 players. Anything more isn't needed (it goes back to the same arguement PS3 fanboys made about value for money because a wireless router etc was included).

However, it still remains to be seen whether casual gamers will be swayed to buy an Xbox 360 and a Natal unit and use no controller. Microsoft still have their work cut out and they'll need to do some decent media manipulation to take the general public's eye off the Wii.

For current 360 owners it would sell like hot cakes at under £50 though!

While possessing some similar qualities to the Wii Bev it is non caomparable as it promises so much more. Gesture Recognition etc.
The total cost of this functionality to get to a certain point but not the full package with the wii would cost on average-

Wii Mote - £25
Nunchuck - £15
Accelarometer - £15
Balance Board - £50
Microphone thing - £15

And then you are limited to 1 user with most accessories. Total sum - £120 and this is just part of the functionallity.

100 quid for it wouldn't sell in my view Karl.
Most people would just get a Wii instead, thinking it's pretty much the same offering.

If impulse buy is what they are going for then those prices could work. I'm not too fussed by natal but at £30 to £50 I'd be tempted.

Project Natal (pronounced [naˈtal], nah-tahl) is the code name for a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based on an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, Project Natal enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images.

I'd be very pleasantly surprised if it was even £50 as Microsoft previously said it would cost a lot to start with.

£30 would be amazing and would help it really take off.
