Multiplayer games will run at the same frame rate across PS4 Pro and the standard PS4, Naughty Dog’s lead programmer Christian Gyrling has said.

Speaking at last night’s PlayStation Meeting, Gyrling explained that “everyone is trying to be really cognisant that the game will not run faster, like, higher frame rates, unless you’re playing a single-player style of game.

“But if you’re playing multiplayer games, it will be the same playing field. Base PS4 users, PS4 Pro users, you’re still running the same frame rate. Yes, you’re running at a higher resolution, you might be seeing it in HDR, but overall it’s a level playing field. We’re not benefiting the PS4 Pro users and skewing the community.”

PS4 Pro, which launches in November, boasts an improved GPU and CPU over the standard PS4, allowing developers to take advantage of the power to deliver enhanced visuals and performance.

Rise of the Tomb Raider, for example, will let PS4 Pro players switch between three rendering modes, giving them the option to target a higher frame rate, higher resolution or enhanced graphical fidelity.

Other games being enhanced for PS4 Pro including For Honor, Watch Dogs 2, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Steep, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Horizon: Zero Dawn.

PS4 Pro launches November 10 priced £349.99. Pre-order the PS4 Pro now from Amazon(?)
