"All new franchises" will be created with a cross-platform strategy.
Speaking to Next-Gen, Crytek's engine business manager Harald Seeley has revealed that the developer is sticking to its previous statements regarding multi-format game development - new projects won't be PC only.
"When Cevat said we would not create new PC exclusives, he was referring to any new projects we will start in the future," explained Seeley. "Of course Warhead has been under development for quite some time, and we had no desire or intention to disappoint our loyal PC fans. So, after some careful consideration, we decided to continue our support for the PC Crysis franchise with this release. But yes, all new franchises we develop in the future will be created with a cross platform strategy in mind."
Seeley was also questioned on the supposed enhancements to the CryENGINE 2 which is being used for Crysis Warhead.
"Yes, we have made further enhancements to make our CryENGINE 2 even more scaleable, which is a side benefit of having to add features that make it more console friendly, and the luxury of still more time to polish and tune it," said Seeley.
Crysis Warhead was announced last week and is scheduled for release exclusively for PC in the autumn.
