People won't understand what it is until they see it.

Speaking to Times Online at GDC earlier this month, Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux dropped a few snippets of info on his secretive new game currently in development to utilise motion controller, Natal.

"We are at the moment making something whose title I can’t reveal, but you saw a glimpse of it at E3 (in the Project Natal demos). It is so different and new that trying to get a focus group to look at it and respond is almost impossible," he said.

He likened the new game to something like the bicycle, claiming you'll have to see it to understand it.

"Imagine if I invented the bicycle and tried to explain it to you. If I told you I'd invented a machine that could go at 30mph and that travelling on a piece of rubber this wide would be the most popular form of transport in the world, you would look at me as if I was some kind of lunatic. You have to build the bicycle first," Molyneux explained.

It's assumed the secret game Molyneux talks about involves virtual boy Milo - first seen during a technology demo at E3 2009. Only last month the Lionhead man revealed that Milo is to return as a character in a bigger story.

If you turn out to be a quarter of what Molyneux is you'll be a good developer. As a developer you should be looking to peter for inspiration.

Sounds awesome Tom. I know everyone's sort of dismissed my course as a scam, but it's seriously rewarding. I've been thoroughly enjoying it thus far, and have learnt so much about variables and stuff that I never even contemplated. It's given me such a massive appreciation for games.

It's 3ds max and we don't learn anything until next semester which is a royal ball ache.

I just desire a new Dungeon Keeper - that could be a fun Natal mechanic - physically picking up your creatures/slapping imps/casting spells... that could be a LOT of fun, actuallt!

The short-sightedness people have about Natal as astounding, it truly is. What's worse is that, even when it proves to offer fresh experiences, the same people will disregard it because they can't be bothered to understand it and so the extent that the idea is explored will be severely limited. Awful shame.

First year is very good, learning a lot. So much to take in too. On the 3d side i passed with a 1st which is cool :D the tutor said there was nothing he could teach me hehe.

Also the actual Design lessons are amazing, learning so much on how levels and games are created.

Yeah he has vision and enthusiasm but not all of what he touches turns to gold... I dont beleive Natal is going to bring anthing new to the market. I personally can see my self not holding something in my hand to interact with.

Surely to first signal that theres a good chance an idea will be successful is that the idea can be explained relatively easily.

How different can it really be?
