xbox 360 slim real -

Microsoft has made an attempt to explain the reasons for shutting down popular video games entertainment show Inside Xbox, claiming it doesn't want to alienate core gamers.

"We just felt it had reached a logical and natural position where we felt that we had a strong voice to that community in any case," Xbox Europe interactive entertainment VP Chris Lewis told Eurogamer at E3 last week.

"We've got 40 million people on Xbox LIVE, we know that audience closely follows what we're up to, so we felt it was logical [to close it]."

He added that Microsoft has no plans to abandon the core gamer.

"The key to answering your question though is our commitment to keep bringing that kind of content to satisfy the appetite of that audience," he said.

"We have no desire to move away from that. In my opinion, we are focussed on it more than ever - understanding how to target that audience, how not to alienate that audience."

However, Lewis was much more able to divulge details on Microsoft's casual experiences lined-up for Xbox.

"To be clear, we've got more casual gaming experiences we want to bring - we've got music, we've got entertainment, we want to bring fitness and lifestyle to Xbox 360 like the stuff you saw with Nike, all of which is possible through Kinect. Those things allows us to realise our vision.

"We want to be the entertainment hub in the living room - the box of choice in every respect, whether it is hardcore gaming, fitness, music, whether its browsing, voice search. We think we're so well placed in regards bringing that to life versus anybody else."

Inside Xbox was cancelled last month.

This guy makes me so mad, if I wanted to get fit I would go to a gym not pee my neighbours off while jumping up and down like a moron only to sit on sofa 10 mins later stick cod on and eat Doritos n drink stella rest of the night, if I wanted to search the internet I would use a pc or a smartphone, I don't want to talk to a piece of plastic sat on the tv stand, I'm already losing my mind talking to myself In the van all day never mind my tv, plus shouting at a useless object while my 7 month old lad is asleep is not going to go down well with the missis. All I want to do is play games, download games demos n trailers, I want to use my Xbox as a media server to watch stuff stored on the computer just cos it's easier, I don't want to pay £5 to watch a film I can rent from blockbusters for less or even buy for less off the net in most cases, I like sky Netflix and iPlayers on there too, never minded it's media focus. I loved inside Xbox was one of my favourite things about xbox live and was always te best argument to pay for live n not just use psn, loved the silly videos with dan maher n the other one (sorry cant remember real name superkaylo anyway) in sent u a message and the nexus, don't see how cancelling it has saved them any money or effort could of done new things as well as kept that going, I pay £40 a year to use live surely we should get a say in these stupid decisions. Y can't Microsoft keep there casual family gamers separate to the real gamers like everyone thats going to read this, I can't wait for a new Xbox but dreading were the gaming industry is going I think it won't be long till Microsoft and Nintendo scrap its core gamer focus to the more family friendly audience, we need a new competitor who only cares bout the core/mature gamers. Even the gamers games are using kinect to do pointless things like in mass effect 3 or Skyrim, no need there just giving in to Microsoft
