Microsoft has mentioned that it's working on the "next generation of Xbox" again, only one day after it attempted to sweep comments about a "new Xbox" being in development under the carpet.

The job listing, which is posted on Microsoft's careers site, seeks a UI Designer & Prototyper to help develop Skype for the "Next gen Xbox and consumer electronics".

"The team you'll join is responsible for Skype in the living room (broadly the home), across various devices but with a focus on the large screen and the next generation of Xbox," the post reads.

This is the second job listing related to a next generation Xbox uncovered today.

Earlier today, VideoGamer.com reported that Microsoft was looking to launch its next Xbox within the next 18 months.

Brian Hall, Microsoft's general manager for Windows, appeared to confirm that a "new Xbox" was in production earlier this week.

However, Microsoft later said that Hall's comments were "not understood in their intended context".

"When Brian mentioned a 'new wave of products,' he was referring to the full line-up of products coming later this year from Microsoft, including Windows 8, Office, Windows Phone and of course our fall Xbox update which will bring a host of new consumer experiences like Xbox Music, Videos, Games on Windows 8 and Xbox SmartGlass."

I'm with FM, a big build up with a short time to keep the buzz going until launch.

Better to rain on everyone's parade and announce it at E3 2013 I'd have thought. That way they'll still continue to sell the 360 this Christmas rather than putting consumers off.

At this point they may as well have announced the new Xbox by now. They are either going to it announce very soon in order to rain on Nintendo's Wii U launch parade. Or they are going to take a leaf out of apples book, announce at their own event after E3 2013 and then say it will be out for Christmas 2013.
