Xbox One will launch in the UK at £429, some £80 more than the £349 launch price of PS4, but Microsoft's corporate vice-president Phil Harrison has told The Telegraph that the firm is very happy with the price.

"We feel great about the value of Xbox One," he said. "It's a unique architecture, with Kinect and the power of the cloud. What we showed yesterday was the most incredible games line-up in any first few months of a platform launch, many of which are exclusive and all of which have advantages being on Xbox One. That's what's really going to drive value.

"We couldn't be happier with the price we're starting at."

Microsoft may be happy with the price, but consumers are likely think differently. £80 will cover the cost of almost two games, and in austere times every penny counts.

Endless and FantasyMeister each deserve more TUs than I can give on my own. They both nailed exactly what I would be saying here.

Microsoft: "We are happy with the Xbox One's price and capabilities."
Me: "Then you are a fool!"

As an XBox gamer and Live user for the past 8 years I couldn't be happier with PS4's price. Maybe Microsoft should take note of that.

The price has nothing to do with why I'm not getting an Xbox one. I still personally think it is a better product offering, both software and hardware. BUt the policies and restrictions they impose cant be ignored.

The price is a lot and it is more than the PS4 for sure. But under different moral circumstances the extra £80 is value I would take advantage of given what they're offering for that price.

You can't be serious? Since the PS4 announcement in February microsoft have had very little (to none) said about them in a positive manner. The majority of the 'good' things we hear about the xbone comes from microsoft.

The fact that they say they are happy shows how much they are actually paying attention to us gamers. We have been saying how ***** the xbone sounds, and yet they come out with things like "well you're going to buy one anyway" and "our fan-boys will love it" (which is utter bollocks because everyone who I know owns a 360 (apart from one guy, but he is an idiot) has said they aren't getting and xbone).

As far as I'm concerned the next gen is between Sony and Nintendo, not mircosoft.
