Microsoft announces first XNA developed XBLA release

The XNA Studio Express developed title Schizoid will be the first game created using the XNA tools to be released on Xbox Live Arcade.

Budding game developers should take inspiration from this news. It's been announced that Schizoid is to be released on Xbox Live Arcade. Schizoid might be unknown to most readers, but its release is the first of its kind on Xbox Live Arcade.

It was announced today that it will be the first game released on Xbox Live Arcade developed using XNA Studio Express. The game is described as a co-op action game in which two players must protect each other from barrages of glowing enemies.

The game is expected to be released before the end of 2007.

Not XNA Racer, first, then? This is a surprise. Talking Live Arcade, I'm glad that Microsoft have announced they're going to be drawing attention to Pinball FX this week. There deserves to be more support/anticipation behind that release, it doesn't deserve the reception of an also-ran.
