Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Survive will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 22, 2018. Metal Gear Survive begins after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and is set before the events of MGSV: The Phantom Pain.

After Big Boss and Kazuhira Miller manage to escape from the besieged Mother Base, a wormhole opens, and sucks up Mother Base and the Militaires Sans Frontières soldiers. These soldiers find themselves in an alternate reality where zombie-like things known as ‘creatures’ attack them. Players will take on the role of a soldier as they try to escape from this strange dimension, scavenging materials to build weapons, gear, buildings and more along the way.

This is the first Metal Gear title that’s being developed without Hideo Kojima involved, and seems to have taken its influence from an idea that Kojima-san had previously expressed interest in.

The developer also revealed bonus content that’ll come with pre-orders of the game. Metal Gear Survive pre-orders come with a Survival Bonus Pack that includes four gold-plated weapons, some metallic-coloured survival scarves, two in-game gestures, a Mother Base nameplate, and Kabuki facepaint.

Metal Gear Survive will be released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 22, 2018.
