Lightsaber game for Wii not likely

LucasArts has said that should a Star Wars game be released on Wii it's likely it won't be the lightsaber game people want.

With all the cutting-edge technology being pumped into Star Wars: The Force Unleashed the game could well end up being an all-time classic. Thankfully both the PS3 and Xbox 360 are confirmed to have a version on the way but, despite much talk back at E3, the Wii has been left out in the cold.

Not only is there no confirmed version of the game coming to the Wii, LucasArts has now dashed hopes of a Star Wars lightsaber game - something which seems a natural fit for the system.

Whilst LucasArts is not ruling out a Star Wars: The Force Unleashed port to the Wii, a rep has denied that a lightsaber game is on the way.

"... even if that version does happen, it probably wouldn't be 'the lightsaber game' that gamers have eagerly been awaiting," the LucasArts rep told Game Informer.

Umm, I read this article in Game Informer magazine and I really don't see any "interpretation room" The interview was clear in stating that IF this game is to be relaeased on the Wii it will not be the lightsaber game we are waiting for, NOT that we will not be getting a lightsaber gaame any time soon. I would suggest printing the quote in its entirety next time, it really makes for better journalismn.

Although your interpretation of what the rep said is interesting, one might just as easily interpret it to mean that The Force Unleashed is not "the lightsaber game" people are looking for, but that that game will come down the road a bit.
