Leaked Wii 2 info reveals Blu-ray?

Console also said to support 1080p for games and video.

MaxConsole reports it has obtained leaked specifications of the Wii 2, revealing basic details about the console and a Q3 2010 release date.

The info is reported to have originated from French website Logic-Sunrise.com, which according to MaxConsole has regularly supplied insider knowledge. The leak is said to have come from an internal source of the marketing Nintendo France Service.

We're dubious as to the accuracy of this info, so take the following as nothing more than a rumour, but the Wii 2 is reported to:

- Feature a Blu-Ray drive with a secondary aim of stopping piracy
- Support 1080p for Blu-ray movies and games
- Be scheduled for release in Q3 2010, a worldwide simultaneous launch

The launch will also be supported by a trade in scheme, offering existing Wii owners to offset some of the Wii 2's cost by trading in their Wii.

Furthermore, Nintendo is not expected to officially announced the console until one month before its launch.

Next year I will have an excuse to pirate games, what with me going to university and all. :p

I agree though, 2010 is a tad early for my liking. A much later release would give me more time to save up and get through all the unfinished games I currently own and will possibly own next year.

You apparently havent looked at overall hardware and software sales figures. Nintendo has made $6.00 per unit at $249.00 Microsoft and Sony lose ten times that per unit they sell. Microsoft expressed their anger by saying they were mad nintendo was making a profit on their system and how many they have sold...so be up there in price? or what..specs? The higher the specs. the more dough for the unit...specs dont really matter...believe it or not.

As a kid I was never a nintendo fan, BUT, I am now. I cant seem to play anything else other than a Wii. I really like it. Just like any system, you buy the high ranked games and it wont dissapoint. It is more powerful than a gamecube, but if it wasnt, I dont care, I'm not a "spec" reader, and because Nintendo wanted to make a videogame system and not a blender, mixer, videogame, blueray, hd, electric razor, it kept the cost down, and does what it should. Play video games. And thank goodness, because as soon as someone tries to one up the ps3 or xbox, the unit will be 699.00. and I wont be buyin.

the wii lost it ages ago when they decided to be more fitness console than gamer console so theyll never b up there with 360 or ps3

I really hope Nintendo don't release this until late 2011. I'd be quite happy with a 5 year life span - 4 is far too short and since Super Mario Galaxy Nintendo haven't done anything revolutionary.
