And they don't need to make a sequel, just a different game with the same sort of engine (a bit like Modracers is going to be)

making another LBP would seem a rip off since people can already download other users' levels.
i think they should make the next one as a launch title for the PS4.

LBP fans will continue to pay for DLC for as long as they release it and I think MM know that very well. With such a strong community behind it, I would tend to agree with MM and think too that it would suffer from a sequel. It's such a unique game, all that's necessary is more content or expansions on the current world that is included on the disc. That being said, it opens the door for something like LBP 1.1 or some such shite where they could release quite a large expansion on disc. Of course then what would or could have been LBP 2 merely becomes a money maker for MM. Pricing considered, the alternative is of course a multitude of paid DLC over a space of time amounting to as much if not more than any disc expansion release could attract...
If quality DLC is viable during development time on something else, I think they'd be best focussing their talents on some thing completely different and new. Let's face it, as genius as LBP is, there's only so often it could be re-hashed and re-invented for appeal...... Once is enough I think. Let the already solid community grow with the game instead of forcing them back to square one with more of the same...

As for DLC? Well, it certainly is the best idea, as there really is no need to introduce a new continuation on the game creating a franchise. Little Big Planet is that sort of game in which it doesn't need newer versions as DLC and sdk updates is all that is required.

Fragmenting the user base just means that people won't get access to as much content as they possibly can, and the whole idea behind the game is sharing; a sequel would make a complete mess of that community.
