Screens are 93% larger than the DS Lite.

Nintendo has announced a revised version of its Nintendo DSi handheld, offering larger 4.2 inch screens.

The DSi LL will go on sale in Japan on November 21 priced 20,000 yen. Dark Brown, Wine Red and Natural White colours will be available at launch.

Nintendo says the DSi LL comes in reaction to customer requests who said they wanted larger screens. At 4.2 inches, compared to the DSi's 3.2 inches, consumers are getting their wish. The new handheld will be aimed at users who want to access the internet and play music as the bigger screen will be capable of displaying lettering in a larger font.

Bundled with the DSi LL will be two touch pens, one slightly longer than the DSi stylus and the other much larger and chunkier. It'll also come pre-installed with three DSiWare titles: two Brain Training games and DS Easy Dictionary.

I just saw this on Kotaku.

It's got a shorter battery life, it weighs more, it's bigger and you can't play GBA games on it. How in any way is this an improvment from the Lite?

From the Japanese site it looks like they're marketing this at the PDA market now, in more subtle colours for adults to use. It comes with a dictionary and brain training games built in and I wouldn't be surprised to see a downloadable PDA style tool at some point too.

All these new DS's just seem like the milking of a product to me.
