Kinect integration for Sky Player

A UK first for gesture and voice-controlled TV.

Sky and Xbox have announced gesture and voice-controlled television for Sky Player using Kinect for Xbox 360.

A UK first, Sky Player subscribers will be able to quickly access up to 32 live TV channels and over 100 on demand programmes including movies, sport and a wide range of TV programmes. Selecting a favourite show, changing live channels, or scrolling forward and back through on-demand content is all made possible by a wave of a hand.

Kinect for Sky Player on Xbox 360 will also let viewers control TV with their voice to pause, fast forward, rewind and play content.

The service will be available at the launch of Kinect on November 10, 2010.

True as that maybe if I can say "Sky Sports 1" and it goes to the channel and then all I have to say is "Sky Sports 4" to flick to that channel/game it would be awesome.

Sky Remotes integration is a big ask but they already have an IR receiver available via scene it so it could be possible.

I'd rather be able to use my Sky remote for it, we have about 4 of them at the minute.

Problem is,novelty aside,there is almost no way it will match a remote in the long term for frequent use,speed and range of controls.

That's pretty cool. Use Sky Player quite a lot when things like Holby City are on and I want to watch the Champions League. Only have sky in one room so this is like a free multi room addition. Kinect integration maybe decent depending on the controls would like to see it in action.
