Report suggests the Resistance developer is working on Xbox 360.

2008ps3resistance2 -

IGN reports that according to an overheard conversation at GDC last week, Insomniac Games is turning its back on exclusive PlayStation platform development and has become a multiplatform studio.

A trusted IGN source reports that the studio behind the Ratchet & Clank and Resistance franchises is working on both Xbox 360 and PS3.

While it seems unlikely the studio's big name PlayStation franchises will appear on rival platforms, Insomniac's independence will allow it to create something new for release across multiple systems.

Insomniac Games president Ted Price refused to comment on rumours and speculation.

Whatever they do, they should avoid any takeover by Activision.

as an owner of both consoles i think that as far as 3rd parties are concerned they should *try* to make their games as accessible to the masses as much as possible to generate added income.

Of course, there will still be the Sony and MS studios to crank out specific titles, but none of those two have a stable character like Mario for Nintendo, so it's no big deal. Gears of War and God Of War may become the stable franchises of sort, but neither of those series are particularly family friendly franchises and don't necessarily carry the same aura that Mario does.

You read it right El dev rein was literally saying they can do what they like with gears of war as they own it.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/ep...ant-with-gears Is where I took the quote from this morning.

From what Rein says, "We can do what we want with it", I take it to mean that they could bring either of them to PS3 which would suggest they don't own the rights. Maybe I read in to it wrong.

Saying that mate. Lost Planet 2 trailer has Marcus and Dom, which so happens that Lost Planet 2 is a multi-platform game. So, its interesting from that point of view but I would prefer that Gears would stay on the 360, as of the controls suit the 360 than it would if Gears 'ever' came to the Playstation.

I am completely and utterly indifferent to Ratchet and Resistance. They were the first games I got with my PS3 and I didn't like either of them one bit. They weren't bad, but they just weren't anything special =\

I know they're popular, though, and games going multi-platform is usually a good thing.

Thats exactly what i said. The rumour about 3 is out there as it apparently is coming in November.

But I can't see any big games of this gen changing to multiplat. Gears, Resistance, Ratchet. Not in the best interest. But come next gen I can see Gears becoming multi plat and probs resistance. Not Ratchet though think that pulls sales due to its exclusivity.

Well according to mark Rein he would dispute that a little epic 100% lock stock own gears, ms it would seem have publishing rights.

Mark Rein has said that Epic Games is free to do what it likes with Gears of War.

"We own Gears of War. We can do what we want with it," Rein, who is vice president of Epic, told VG247.

Am not saying I think its going to ps but I believe if Epic really wanted to they could make that happen. As it happens gears seems to do rather well so the need to take the games multi isn't as urgent it would be for other games.

That was my point Dev. Ms own the publishing rights to gears 1+2 and apparently 3 but Epic own the IP rights. Same with Alan Wake. That's why I believe its a similar deal. Get it now?

Boy doesn't your deal with it now sound retarded.

Epic own Gears.

I'll give you a thumbs up on your previous comment to spare your feelings, but in future I suggest you take your own advice and deal with it.

Some one TD me for stating sales figures awesome. Resistance 2 managed to scrape 1.8 Million sales as a Shooter that is supposed to be a console swinger it did *****. Deal with it.

Probs Sony has a similar deal with insomniac as Ms has with Epic for gears. Can't see resistance or ratchet coming to 360 but any future IP may do.

Now that would be interesting. As long as the game has a massive Leviathan to go against in a populated city. Though you would have two showdowns with the Leviathan. 1) Using an aircraft 2) Battle it out on the streets and top of buildings.

Thats one idea which just popped straight into my head lol

What about a game with the R&C engine but based in the Resistance universe? I'd buy it.

@ El-Dev: They are quite a creative bunch. I will agree that the weapons in R&C and Resistance are very good. I wouldn't mind a game like R&C but aimed at the mature audience. I know anyone can pick up R&C and play but being a game suitable for a mature audience will have its benefits on what they can do.
