Wants PS3 to exceed the 140 million unit sales of PS2.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Kaz Hirai has issued a huge statement of intent for the PlayStation 3 console - the aim is for sales of the console to exceed that of the PS2.
"It's not fun for me replicating the PS2 numbers. I've seen that movie already," said Hirai. "I want to try to see if we can exceed the PS2 numbers after nine years, otherwise why are we in this business?"
Speaking last week at E3, Sony revealed that the PS2 had sold over 140 million units worldwide, approximately 40 million more than the original PlayStation.
