Joe Danger developer Hello Games has revealed its next project, No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky is a procedurally-generated first-person exploration game that sees players venturing on quests across the galaxy, exploring planets and competing against other players in space combat.

Developed by just four people, the ambitious title is described by Hello Games as a "huge game... about exploration".

"In our game, when you stand on a planet and you see a mountain, if you see it, you can walk there," explained Hello Games. "If you see that planet on the horizon, that's a real place. You can get in your ship and you can go there."

Platforms and a release date for No Man's Sky have yet to be announced.

No Man's Sky was by far the most interesting concept in the VGA's. Space exploration and combat, the amazing looking colourful art direction, the obvious ship design inspirations from Star Wars and Frontier. This game looks like it could have it all. The only problem now is the execution. Is it multiplayer in the sense that it is MMO style, or in the sense that its designed that you and 1-11 of your mates can explore the galaxy at you own pace. This game could either be one of those games I've wanted/ dream of, or could be a hideous disappointment.

As for the VGX's in general. Apart from this and the Telltale stuff, every announcement was rather lackluster. The announcements themselves weren't bad, but it felt like they weren't as grandiose as the show was "trying" to be. It felt as if each developer was holding back the big guns for another time and just making small announcements in order to put in an appearance.

This made the VGX's feel very small scale, even though (apart from the BAFTA's and Golden Joystick's) this is meant to be the premier video game award event.

No Man's Sky is the only thing worth mentioning from that crap Spike calls the 'VGA's'.

Have to say, really impressed with the way things looked on No Man's Sky. Which is almost sad because there was not a damn thing else that looked good! (Sorry NMS, didn't mean to take anything away from ya) :D

This looked amazing, like an old school game in brand new clothing. Very interesting feel to it.

The 'award show' was abysmal though.

sounds very interesting but the visuals don't look all that appealing

It looks O.K. I guess. But all I could see was stolen ship designs. Te X-Wing, The mother ship from Oblivion and the default ship from Frontier Elite also the worms from Dune.
