Green Day, Harmonix, MTV Games and Reprise/Warner Bros. Records have announced that Green Day: Rock Band, a standalone music video game celebrating the career of Green Day, will launch worldwide on June 8, 2010.

Green Day: Rock Band features the likenesses of Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool and will see players progress through the story and history of Green Day.

Featuring the three-part vocal harmony technology Harmonix introduced with the award-winning The Beatles: Rock Band, Green Day: Rock Band gives players access to a setlist of 47 tracks that span the band's career including "Brain Stew," "Jaded," "Hitchin' a Ride," "American Idiot," "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." All 47 tracks are fully exportable, providing players with the opportunity to play the songs in Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and the recently announced Rock Band3. A $9.99 fee is chargeable to export the track list.

In addition, the six Green Day tracks already available in the Rock Band Music Store as downloadable content can be played in Green Day: Rock Band with added vocal harmonies, unique performance visuals, and exclusive archival material.

Green Day: Rock Band will be released simultaneously in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other territories on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.

Surely it should have been Rockband Bon Jovi first? Even Rockband Meatloaf (with free padding)

Green Day, this is disappointing. If the ever do a RHCP Rock Band or GH I'd buy that but until then I'm glad I traded my plastic guitar in for near enough what I paid for it.

I still prefer the GH approach though - too much of one band can get too repetitive and a bit dull. Though I don't agree with their method of selection ('anything we have licensed that is tangentally related), if they selected songs based from actual opening acts, or even from bands the focused group opened for, then it would e a much more solid experience.

I Loves the Green Day hope they don't fill with low end songs. Or put influences in there.

Have to disagree with the milking it comment - 47 songs from a Band is a worthwhile release for an add on - and a bit too much to release as just DLC - much better than GH efforts of 25 tracks from a band and a load of filler that is losely related to the band!

I personally welcome these kind of track packs!

This is one for me to get once the price drops a bit. I'm not a massive Green Day fan, but some of their songs would be a nice addition to the ever growing set list.
- fully exportable - nice one Harmonix!

Glad to see Hitching a Ride confirmed - I may not be keen on their latest stuff, but for nostalgia's sake (and some fun fast rock) I shall most certainly be picking this up.

Karlius - fancy banding up? ;)
