Crytek GmbH has today announced today that it has acquired all assets and business of Free Radical Design Limited. The Nottingham based developer is best known for the multi-award winning TimeSplitters series. The studio will now be integrated into Crytek's network.

"We're very excited about this step to expand Crytek into the UK with such an experienced and highly talented team," said Avni Yerli, Managing Director of Crytek. "Free Radical Design is a great fit to Crytek and its culture, given that Free Radical has a proven track record on delivering high quality games. Chances are we won't see another Haze - for the moment, at least - as the IP is jointly owned by Free Rad and Ubisoft, so Crytek would either have to come to some agreement with the French publisher or buy the game outright. I expect Crytek are going to get their UK branch to work on console adaptations of Crysis, or any forthcoming franchises they might have in store.
