Sony "f**king nailed it" with the PS4 and "deserve the victory", Unity CEO and former EA CEO John Riccitiello said during the GamesBeat Summit.

"That's one of the more - in my opinion - depressing stories in the last couple of years," Riccitiello said when asked about the battle between PS4 and Xbox One.

"In the battle of big ideas ... there was a clash of ideas that really separated Sony and Microsoft. They actually had very similar architecture that they were trying to bring to the table. But Microsoft focused ... a lot on entertainment beyond gaming. Microsoft was trying to [compete against] Apple. They didn't feel gaming was big enough to justify the pent-up desire ... to have the recognition they wanted as an innovator."

Sony decided to put the gamer at the forefront of its plans for the PS4, which Riccitiello says paid off big time.

"Sony just said, 'We've made the best f**king game system we could' ... partly because they didn't have the resources to do more about it," said Riccitiello. "Microsoft was focused on the shot after the one they needed to make, putting the 7-ball in the corner pocket, but they missed the first shot and didn't get another shot after it.

"Sony focused on the shot they needed to make, which was win the hearts and minds of the gamer."

He continued: "The broader scope of entertainment might be a bigger idea, but not with an unfocused execution. A tight execution on the 50 million people that matter, which are the people currently lapping up consoles ... Sony f**king nailed it, and they deserve the victory."

In all honesty: when was the last time that a "multimedia" system won the hearts of a gamer?
CD-i, 3DO, and all that other stuff proofed one thing: games first - entertainment later (or elsewhere).

I agree with the point of your post, 'Bloodborne' and 'The Last of Us' are excellent games. And Microsoft has failed to capture the gaming community with any of their old IP's (Halo) or new IP's (Sunset Overdrive). They have a long way to go in order to convince the public to believe and get behind the Xbox One.

Hate to agree with the troll but yeah, Sunset Overdrive isn't exactly a stellar game and from what I played of Halo, average graphics and good but not great gameplay, massively overhyped series imo.

Xbox is living off long running series, meanwhile Last of Us was a massive hit and deservedly so and one the most anticipated games right now - No Man's Sky is PS4 console exclusive. The bloom is off the xbox rose right now. They had to go desperate and grab Tomb Raider for themselves.
