Sony Pictures has announced that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will be released in North America on April 25.
The CGI feature film from Square Enix is set two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII and a disease called Seikon-Shoukougun is spreading throughout the planet. Meanwhile, Cloud has secluded himself from his friends as he struggles to deal with the demons from his past.
The English language version of the film stars Steve Burton (voice of Cloud in Kingdom Hearts), and Rachel Leigh Cook and Mena Suvari, who voice Tifa and Aerith respectively in both Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts II. The film will be available on UMD and as a two-disc special edition on DVD which will include a Story Digest, deleted scenes, making of featurette, Venice Film Festival footage, and a sneak peek of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII games.
The two-disc DVD will be available for $26.96, with the UMD slightly more costly at $28.96. At this time no official announcement has been made regarding a European release, but some online retailers are predicting April 24 as a likely date.
