Producer says pressure hasn't lead to any compromises.
Speaking to EDGE magazine, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has revealed that the game, having been in development for five years, needs a little more success than your average title.
"... there is an unusual sort of pressure on Final Fantasy XIII," said Kitase. "I'd say we need this game to have ten times the success of these smaller titles."
However, this pressure hasn't compromised the game in any way, as Kitase points out.
"But I don't think that means we've compromised in terms of the game design or creativity in any way," he said. "Indeed, the development of the game has very much followed in the tradition of the previous titles in the series, welcoming input from the full range of development staff."
Final Fantasy XIII is said to be on course for a 2009 release in Japan only on PS3, while the game isn't expected in Western territories until after April 2010 when the game will release on PS3 and Xbox 360.
