EA and the studio behind The Sims are expanding and creating a new development team in Salt Lake City to work on a "groundbreaking" new project, the publisher announced last night.

"We’re truly thrilled to expand into Salt Lake City and what is becoming a growing and dynamic video game development scene," said Ben Bell, Executive Producer at EA. "We’re looking to fill several critical leadership positions on an exciting new project."

According to several jobs currently being advertised at the studio, the new project is very much in its infancy - not a single piece of art has been created, no engine has been chosen and no code has been written.

Its a Natal game based around using a digger, you have to use a chair and imagine yourself in the digger...breaking the ground...

Oh, it's def. coming - it has been listed on EA's upcoming games list (financial report) as: "The Sims 3 on Console Title". Catchy. I just thought it'd be ground breaking in the wallet rape DLC potential. ;)

The console version of The Sims would be normal news, its been expected ever since this gen started.

Groundbreaking would be The Sims with cross platform compatibility.

Console versions of the Sims - with the DLC add-on potential, I can imagine EA are positively purring with excitement...
