EA has announced plans to bring its portfolio of hit titles to Mac OS X, including the latest Harry Potter game.
Mac gaming looks set to get a major boost with a commitment of support from EA. The giant video games publisher has announced plans to bring its portfolio of hit games to Mac OS X, starting this summer with the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Need for Speed Carbon, Battlefield 2142 and Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars.
The titles are being ported to take advantage of the Mac's performance to run with "stunning visuals and signature gameplay at blistering speeds". The four titles will be followed later this year with the release of Madden NFL 08 and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08.
Success for EA on the Mac OS X platform could see other publishers follow suit - id Software has already announced that its new id Tech 5 engine fully supports the latest Mac OS.
