Speaking in an interview with MCV, Gardner has revealed how the company is switching focus from the PSP to the Nintendo DS. He told MCV that "Sony can't afford to sit back... they still have things they can do with the price and performance of the machine - things that they need to address."

Initially EA poured a lot of resources into PSP development, but it now seems that the publisher has realised that the DS is where the focus should be.

"There's no doubt that EA has historically bet more on PSP. I think we were excited by the technology, but the consumers have proven that actually what they want is fun. We must never forget that what we need to focus on is fun and so EA is putting more effort behind DS games - and creative ones that really take advantage of the hardware."

EA's output for the DS hasn't been great up to now, with the majority of their releases being poor versions of multi-platform releases. Gardner's praise of the DS could indicate a better future for EA's releases on the Nintendo handheld. The full interview will be published in this week's print edition of MCV.
