More fuel has been added to the Nintendo’s next platform rumour fire overnight, this time coming from French website Gamekyo.

According to GoNintendo, the site says development kits for a DS 2 – a true successor to the DS – are already in the hands of developers.

Not only that, but the site is rumouring that the new platform will be out before the end of 2010.

The rumour further strengthens VideoGamer.com’s original story from last month, which revealed developers are already working on a “new Nintendo platform” ahead of a possible reveal at this year’s Game Developers Conference.

Last week legendary video game creator Shigeru Miyamoto revealed that Nintendo is working on new hardware, although didn’t reveal any further details.

Nintendo has announced plans for a media summit for Feb 24. Keep your eyes peeled.
