The current state of the Xbox One graphics drivers has been labelled "horrible" and is said to be hurting the platform, reports Edge.

In a wider piece about the performance difference between the PS4 and Xbox One, anonymous developers told Edge that both platform holders continue to work on their graphics drivers, but it's the Xbox One which is in need of most work.

Microsoft is said to have "been late on their drivers and that has been hurting them," revealed one source. Another labelled the Xbox One graphics drivers "horrible".

The article adds that drivers are expected to improve right up to and even beyond the console launches, which should see the performance gap narrow, if only by a small degree.

Xbox One launches November 22, with the PS4 just one week behind on November 29.

All this coming out after Albert Penello went crying to people on NGaf with specs combinations that simply don't work and randomly adding numbers from different parts of the Xbone.
Graphics Tflops + audio - controller latency = 14512.84. Yeah. Impressed yet? Impress by our number? We've got a big number. Don't go look at Sony's number, they'll only lie or something or use facts to make it look like our console's a bit *****

Indeed nothing will go on for ever, but Sony will also have some leg room just like microsoft to have more up to date drivers for a bit until they hit there peak.

This shouldn't be the case MS has already said they optimised the drivers...yet this developer says otherwise. We all know drives will be inprove over the course of the consoles life.MS does not have a driver and Api advantage over Sony, both companies have AMD helping them out with drivers and such. This issues is deeper more like Esram/DDR3 holding it up.

This makes sence, most 3rd party devs have been showing Ps4 versions of their games.

i get a feeling that x1 was just supposed to release at late 2014 but ps4 made MS rush things and it turned into a HUGE f***** mess.

This is definitely troubling, but then again remaining anonymous while saying this doesn't give a lot of credibility.

I think they are saying that the PS4 Drivers are already more optimised then Xbone's. So once they have both reached 99% optimisation they might be closer in performance ''if only by a small degree.''

They're both not going to improve infinitely, on a straight line gradient with the exact same gap in performance 'till the end of time

What is stopping Sony from improving their drivers also? nothing. By the time microsoft update the drivers on the xbox one then same thing will be happening on the ps4. The gap will remain the same tbh.
