Although Dead Rising 3 'would probably have seen the light of day' even without Microsoft's input, Capcom isn't sure it could have achieved it on its own.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at E3, art director Alan Jarvie said:"Xbox One allows Dead Rising 3 to exist. The way Nick reacts to explosions, his animations, the amount of guns in the game. I don't think we could have achieved this on our own."

Much like the original, the third instalment is an Xbox exclusive, and while it was initially being developed on high-end PCs, Capcom also admitted that there had never been a time where Dead Rising 3 was in production for PS4.

The developer also had to scale back the amount of zombies it had on screen due to the game 'being completely unfun to play' such is the number it can now get on screen.

A severely limited downport did appear on both PS2 and Wii... but the core game, as you say, didn't make the transition...

Yet DR1 never saw the light of day on another console, not even PC.

Case: Zero and case: West were phenomenal, and I did wonder if Microsoft had (at least partially) provided financial backing for the development of both episodes. One of the strongest franchises to come of this last gen, in my opinion.

These bought exclusives pretty much always end up being released on the other format a year or so later along with all the DLC.

I had the Playstation 1, then the Playstation 2. But then when Xbox 360 and PS3 were announced I just couldn't afford the PS3 so I settled for the Xbox 360. Now that the PS4 is cheaper and better, I'm having to go back. I really wanted DR3, so it's a shame. Hopefully when the exclusivity deal runs out they'll publish it for the PS4, but who knows?
