The much-talked about dog in Call of Duty: Ghosts will be controlled manually in a similar fashion to the drones in Black Ops II Activision has revealed.

In an E3 preview with IGN, it was described as "a remote recon scout and deadly weapon controlled by the player via a tablet-like viewfinder" allowing you to give orders such as having your dog savage the enemy's throat or bark to create a distraction.

Activision still hasn't mentioned whether these changes will be carried across to multiplayer, or if the dogs that have been a mainstay there for sometime will carry on as before.

It has also been confirmed beyond doubt that the single-player is a much more linear affair (as opposed to previous iterations which have featured multiple plot paths) and that Ghosts stands completely separate to the events of Modern Warfare. That is to say, they never occurred in this universe.

We'll have even more on Call of Duty: Ghosts and its, frankly, ridiculous dog situation next week when E3 officially begins.
