So says point and click legend Charles Cecil.

An announcement on a new DS Broken Sword game is "imminent", VideoGamer.com has learned.

In July, point and click adventure game legend Charles Cecil, managing director of Revolution Games, the York-based developer behind classics Beneath a Steel Sky and Broken Sword, told VideoGamer.com that an official announcement was due "in a month", and described the online petition that calls for a Nintendo DS remake as "really inspirational".

That announcement failed to transpire, however. Today, Cecil told VideoGamer.com that while he was expecting an announcement from publisher Ubisoft in the summer, it was now "imminent", words that are sure to please the series' many fans.

Rumours that Revolution has been hard at work on a Director's Cut of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars have been rife online, especially on the studio's official forum.

Back in July, when asked directly whether Revolution was working on the DS remake the online petition calls for, Cecil told VideoGamer.com: "I'm going to have to be really boring now and just say that the petition was really inspirational. But I'm really not allowed to say any more than that. Again I just wish that we were having this interview in about a month's time. Then you'd be asking me much more direct questions!"

When asked if he had any message to his fans, Cecil said: "Watch this space. There will be an official announcement. Not there may be, there will be an official announcement. I'm really sorry to be so vague about it but that's just the way it is."

Looks like we won't have to wait much longer for it, either.
