The long-time rumoured Battlestar Galactica game for Xbox Live Arcade and PC has now been confirmed.

battlestar galactica - Battlestar Galactica game for Xbox...

In development at Australian studio Auran Games and distributed by Sierra Games, the game will be released for Xbox 360 over Xbox Live Arcade and PC in autumn 2007. Players will be able to take part in intense combat and relive key battles from series one and two.

"We're huge fans of Battlestar Galactica and are thrilled to have the opportunity to create a game inspired by the TV series," said Ed Zobrist, president of Sierra Online. "NBC Universal is working closely with us so that players will be able immerse themselves in the Battlestar Galactica universe and re-live their favourite missions from the TV series."

In addition to the epic battles from the TV series, the game will feature plenty of additional content and missions built around what fans of the series will be familiar with. We're told to expect both single and multiplayer modes and you'll even be able to play as the Cylons. Something that isn't yet clear is whether the game will feature voice talent from the TV series.

Battlestar Galactica for PC and Xbox 360 is currently scheduled for release in the autumn.
