Atari Classics coming to PSN
Pong, Missile Command and Centipede available now.
Atari Europe has announced the launch of Atari Classics on PlayStation Network, bringing previously released PSone titles to a new audience on PS3 and PSP.
The launch of Atari Classics begins with the release of Pong, Missile Command and Centipede.
"Many players first gaming experience would have been with one of Atari’s classic franchises," said John Burns, vice president and general manager for Atari Europe. "With a fantastic back catalogue of addictive classics, we look forward to releasing some of the most popular Atari arcade titles of all time to both nostalgic gamers and to a whole new generation of PlayStation 3 and PSP players."
Following the initial launch, further classic games will be regularly added to the PS Store.
VideoGamer.com Analysis
What you're getting here is the original PSone games, re-released on the PlayStation Store. There's no visual makeover and despite the high-score nature of many of the Atari titles, you won't be seeing support for online leaderboards.
Still, at £3.99, you can't go wrong with a bit of Pong.

but, lets be honest, doesn't sound like they are putting any effort into these releases.
unless effort means 'can we make some money out of some tired old games'?
