Lifetime sales predicted to reach 127 million units.
According to David Mercer, principal analyst at Strategy Analytics, Sony's PS3 will sell more units than its rivals the Xbox 360 and Wii over the lifetime of the current hardware generation.
A report titled "Taming the Waves: Games Console Life Cycles and Platform Competition," predicts that the PS3 will remain a commercial platform five years after the Wii has been replaced, with lifetime sales predicted to reach 127 million units, compared to 103 million Wii units.
"Nintendo has done a great job with the Wii in bringing console games to new audiences," said Mercer. "But its sales are now falling, particularly in mature markets, and its installed base will peak in 2011. Ownership of both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 will hit their highest points between 2012 and 2014."
In 2010 the report predicts global Wii sales of 17.5 million units, the PS3 14 million and Xbox 360 10.5 million.

I miss the good old days of XBOX LIVE. If Sony makes the online better in navagation, communication, makes the downloads a bit quicker, and forces devolopers to make their multiplatformers more equal graphic wise ["God knows Sony exclusive titles smoke anything on 360"]. addons will never make the wii or 360 on par with ps3.
it had a slow start with games but as it stands, no other platform has an exclusives list half as good as that of ps3.
killzone 3, resistance 3, gran turismo 5, motorstorm 3, last guardian, final fantasy VXIII, uncharted 3, socom 4, modnation racers all yet to come out.

However I don't believe this to be a slim 360 I believe it to be the next gen console. Which has added steam as MS have employed some motherboard guru's in the gaming arm of the company.
Lets not hash up the console debate again - all analysts have to say something to justify their pay. Some agree, as it is in their natures, some disagree. Is it really worth reporting eah and every time?

One thing I hate about both companies is arrogance towards pricing and treatment of the UK in terms of releases. Again, both are guilty, but Sony unreservedly so.
Rosco: Series comparisons. I have never enjoyed the GT seriez, for example, whereas I have PGR. Ergo, I know I will not enjoy GT5 as much as PGR4. So bwwwwah away in the corner, if you please.Last edited on Tue 9 March 2010 by Clockpunk

If you look at my sig you will see i have and play both consoles(No, im not one of those retards who thinks just because the own both consoles it makes me unbiased). I play alot of my games on ps3 as alot of my frieds have ps3s but i have recently bought BFBC2 for 360 among others! In many of the topics i see you post in, you make alot of anti-ps3/sony remarks which often are provoked by some sony fanboy nOObs but seems to bring out a very anti-sony side out in you. This is a forum where people are allowed to discuss the thoughts and opinions and express there personal bias.
Onto pricing both are equally as bad in terms of the UK and actually more towards mainland europe.Sonys seems to often leave EU out in terms of PSN software titles But microsoft sell there hardware over here for criminal prices(Im talking £65 for wireless adapter,£29.99 for a 512mb memory card) and obscene prices for hard drives!)
