Microsoft to stick with AMD/ATI.

According to Fudzilla - a tech site which has been on the money in the past, but likewise incorrect on occasion too - AMD has won the contract to supply the next Xbox console with its graphics part. The news comes by way of anonymous industry sources.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 uses an ATI GPU, and Fudzilla suggests the move to stick with AMD/ATI will allow the platform holder to offer full backwards compatibility when making the transition to a new Xbox.

As for when the new console will arrive? The tech site suggests 2012, although it's not clear if this is merely speculation.

Nvidia may be making the best gpus, but AMD is still the best value for money. Sticking with AMD is the smart move. i can't see what software houses need to do that the 360 can't already do. If it's purely graphical detail and storage medium then all we're really set to get in the next console is better looking games of the current generation.

Natal and other interactive features are where the future is at for me.

At the rate the world is going with wars and rumored wars, economic collapse, plagues, famine, earthquakes in diverse places, only knowing the seasons by the leaves on the trees.......

WILL WE SEE 2012?

So how long until the world meets the antichrist, and no more 360.... =(

Be prepared for the worst possible outcomes , but hope and prey for the best in the years to come. It's easy to drown in the darkness if you dont't stand against the tides. Right now the dark is so thick in this world.

Natal will work with future consoles as stated in Press conference. I believe 2012 is realistic however I think Microsoft should have gone back to NVIDIA who are currently producing the best GPU. By 2012 it could have all changed who knows.

By Christmas 2012 the 360 would have been around for 7 years. Thats not bad at all. As long as they support the 360 for at least another 3 years. Actually making up the 10 year cycle. Some may move over at launch but a lot will be able to then wait until the price drop.

2012 is just right for the 360. The 360 has been out since 2005, and it's already reaching it's peak in terms of graphics and features. It's also sold enough and gotten a lot of money from it. 7 years lifespan is too long for a system so I believe 360 will be out by Holidays 2012. That's like 3 years from now, still far. the PS4 should hit stores by holidays 2013 or same year as xbox 2012. There is still a lot of potential for the ps3. However I believe the Wii will be the first with it's next gen system. probably by holidays 2011

So MS will release Natal in 2011 and a new console in 2012. That would be madness. I doubt it will happen though.

this just let's you know that MS is getting ready to start another console. Freakin' chumps. Catching a little heat from Sony and they start getting ready to release another console. I'll call it... MS new xbox by 2011-2012. I BET YOU. There shouldn't be a new XBOX until 2014.

I think 2012 is too soon as a business POV. The 360 is still selling and people are still strggling with money for a new console.
I think Microsoft will have to make a big loss on the console if they want to sell it in big numbers in it's first year.
A brand new, top of the range chip built esspecially for the console is gonna cost a lot of money.
