Amazon UK has launched a digital download service, enabling Amazon customers to download a range of PC and Mac titles from the store.

The retailer has partnered with a range of major publishers, including Square Enix, EA and Ubisoft, with a variety of games available to download now, including Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3 and SimCity.

The service has been available in the US since 2009.

Be aware that some games may feature a form of DRM, though. Amazon's terms of use state that "publishers may choose to protect their applications using a digital rights management ('DRM') system implemented through the Store Software or using the publisher's or a third party's DRM that the publisher provides with its applications".

"Customers buying software and video games who want their products quickly can now download these products straight to their computer with the click of a button," said Xavier Garambois, VP of European consumer business at Amazon EU.

"Not only is this exciting for everyday purchases but for major upcoming releases, Amazon customers will be able to get their hands on products without waiting for them to arrive in the post."
