Angry Birds is set to make its first appearance on home consoles under the publishing wing of Activision.

The first sign of Angry Birds on consoles was spotted by The Escapist over on Activision's E3 booth. A video showed the Activision logo getting hit by a red bird which then explodes into feathers.

The publisher later confirmed that Angry Birds is coming to consoles.

"We'll have some news for you in about two weeks," Activision told the website. "Wait until you see Angry Birds on consoles in HD."

Activision blogger Dan Amrich also chirped in with a comment on the One of Swords blog, stating "some sort" of Angry Birds game is coming to consoles.

Earlier this week Rovio announced that Angry Birds Space has been downloaded 100 million times in just 76 days.

It's only a matter of time before they create the "Church of Angry Birds", where we'll all be overrun by some kind of giant bird-pope overlord...

PRESENTING: ANGRY BIRDS AIRBORNE. For a mere £50 per year, you can get a new level every week, and exclusive chances to be the first to pay even more in microtransactions for new power-ups, like such as the Butcher who runs onto the screen and chops up one pig of your choice, or the Cuckoo who pushes any pigs near enough to it to the floor.

I bet EA wishes that Chillingo had kept the franchise now, they would have owned it and would be making a whole bunch of money.
