DS continues to be the best-selling video games hardware in the UK.

According to GfK-ChartTrack data for UK sales up to June 27, 2009, the Nintendo DS has an installed base of 9.1 million units, 2.7 million of which came last year.

The Nintendo handheld stands head and shoulders above the competition; the Wii is the nearest rival on 5.4 million units - 2.3 million in last 12 months. Next comes the Xbox 360 on 3.9 million units, the PSP on 3.3. million units and the PS3 on 2.2 million units.

In the high-definition console race, the Xbox 360 managed to shift 1.7 million units in the previous year, compared to only 900,000 units for the PS3.

In total, the current generation consoles sold 8.4 million units in the UK in the previous year, bringing life-to-date sales to 24 million units.

I agree - the price cut and the slim PS3 will help sales massively.
