More than one million downloads in its first nine days.

Activision has announced that the Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack has set a new record for the number of paid downloads on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, surpassing one million downloads in only nine days.

The map pack's popularity lead to more than 30 million sessions logged by Xbox LIVE members and more than 30 million hours of gameplay. Its popularity comes as no surprise with Call of Duty 4 having now sold over nine million units worldwide across all released formats.

"Infinity Ward is extremely grateful for support from our loyal Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare community around the world," said Robert Bowling, community relations manager, Infinity Ward. "From the beginning, we were committed to do our best and that continues now with the Variety Map Pack. We can't wait to get back online with everyone."

The Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack will be released for PS3 on April 24 in North America and on May 1 in Europe.
