10.4 million Xbox 360s sold
Microsoft meets 10 million target, announcing that 10.4 million Xbox 360 units have been sold worldwide.
Microsoft used its CES keynote address to make some Xbox 360 announcements and confirmed that it has met its target of selling 10 million Xbox 360 units.
Robbie Bach, president of the entertainment devices division at Microsoft announced that 10.4 million units of the Xbox 360 have been sold worldwide as of December 31, 2006, noting that the vast majority of Xbox 360 owners are new to the Xbox platform.
Always keen to throw out some impressive numbers, Bach also announced that Xbox Live members now stand at five million - together amassing 100 million content downloads.
On the software side of things, Bach spoke of the platform's impressive line-up of 160 titles - a figure he expects to double to more than 300 by the end of 2007. Speaking specifically about Gears of War, the platform's leading game, Bach revealed that sales currently stand at a staggering 2.7 million copies worldwide.
